Gibson SG

The Gibson SG was redesigned, gaining a new body shape with two horns on the front, a one-piece maple neck, a bound ebony fingerboard and a new pickup, the “mini-humbucker”. The mini-humbucker was more modern and better suited for blues and jazz than the “p-90” pickup, and it also provided a higher output than the original single-coil design of the SG. The new SG also featured binding on the body. In 1961, the original version was issued in a “New York Sunburst” finish, and this finish was used until 1965.
